📏 1. Measure your size (the most critical step)
When to measure: Measure in an erect state.
Measure length (optional but recommended): Measure from the base of the penis (pubic bone) to the top of the glans.
Measure circumference/width (most important): This is the most critical data for choosing condom size.
It is recommended to use a soft measuring tape to measure the circumference around the middle of the penis (usually the thickest part).
Calculate diameter (for selection): Divide the measured circumference by π (approximately equal to 3.14) to get an approximate diameter. For example: circumference 130mm ÷ 3.14 ≈ 41.4mm diameter.
📐 2. Understand condom size parameters - "nominal width"
Key concept: The size marked on the condom packaging (such as 52mm, 53mm, 56mm) usually refers to the "nominal width".
What is nominal width? It refers to half of the circumference of the condom's opening (rubber ring) when the condom is fully unfolded and flattened. Simply put, it roughly corresponds to the radius of the condom's opening.
Relationship with penis diameter:
The nominal width of a condom should be slightly smaller than the diameter of your penis when erect.
For example: If you measure your penis diameter to be 41.4mm, then choosing a condom with a nominal width of around 49mm - 53mm is usually appropriate (standard size range).
📦 3. Understand the common size ranges and names (different brands may vary)
Tight/Small: The nominal width is usually less than 49mm (e.g. 47mm, 48mm). Suitable for penises with a circumference of less than 115mm (diameter is about less than 36.6mm).
Standard: This is the most common size. The nominal width is usually between 49mm - 54mm (e.g. 49mm, 52mm, 53mm). Suitable for penises with a circumference of about 115mm - 135mm (diameter of about 36.6mm - 43mm). The vast majority of men fall into this range.
Large/Width: The nominal width is usually between 54mm - 57mm (e.g. 54mm, 56mm). Suitable for penises with a circumference of about 135mm - 150mm (diameter of about 43mm - 47.8mm).
Extra Large: The nominal width is greater than 57mm (e.g. 58mm, 60mm or greater). Suitable for penises with a circumference greater than 150mm (diameter greater than about 47.8mm).
Important reminder: Don't choose it just because it is called "Large" or "Extra Large". It must be selected based on your actual measurement size.
🔍 4. Check the product packaging information
Read the "Nominal Width" or "Width" information on the packaging carefully. Many brands will clearly indicate in mm on the side or back of the packaging.
Note that the "standard" size may vary slightly from brand to brand (for example, one brand's standard is 52mm, another may be 53mm). This is why you may need to try different brands.
🚨 5. Other important selection factors
Material:
Latex: The most common, cost-effective, and effective in preventing pregnancy and preventing sexually transmitted infections. Note: People who are allergic to latex cannot use it.
Polyurethane: Suitable for people with latex allergies, usually thinner, with good thermal conductivity. But it is not as elastic as latex and is slightly more expensive.
Polyisoprene: Synthetic latex, with a softness close to natural latex, suitable for people who are sensitive to latex (but not all people who are allergic to latex are suitable, so be careful), with good elasticity.
Thickness: There are ultra-thin, thin, ordinary, thickened, etc. Ultra-thin models can provide a more natural feel, but the durability may be slightly lower (choose a well-known brand for quality assurance). Thickened models may reduce sensitivity and are sometimes used to help delay ejaculation.
Shelf life and storage: Always check the expiration date on the packaging. Store in a cool, dry, dark place away from heat, humidity and direct sunlight. A purse or car are not good places to store.
